Gavan O'Connor, Windy Beach (LANDSCAPE & ENVIRONMENT 2026)

The photograph was taken in August this year on Cotter's Beach in Wilson's Promontory National Park in Victoria. The wind was howling, as it often is at Wilson's Prom. The colours, though predominantly blue and brown, give the image a timeless quality. Waves have been washing up here for millennia. When the beach is empty, as it was that day, the atmosphere is one of serene solitude.
