THE CAPTURE AWARDS
The Capture Awards celebrate and showcase outstanding work by Australian and New Zealand photographers across six genres: Advertising & Fashion | Wedding & Event | Documentary & Street | Portrait & People | Landscape & Environment | Art & Conceptual.
The Capture Awards are hosted by Capture magazine and capturemag.com.au.
WHO CAN ENTER?
The Capture Awards is open to all photographers from Australia and New Zealand (citizens and residents).
WHAT CAN I ENTER?
• Check the terms and conditions before you enter. Note that there are different post production requirements for different categories.
• Your image must have been captured after 1 January 2023.
• All elements in the entry must have been captured by you and must be 100% photographic in origin, including textures, backgrounds, skies, borders, etc. The use of stock imagery, stock video, or clip art is forbidden. Any post production must be your own work (except for Advertising and Fashion category where industry practice allows the use of a digital operator/retoucher). You must be the copyright holder of the entered work, or in case of wedding or family portraits, you should have permission from the client ('domestic' photography usually shares or forgoes copyright with client).

STANDARD
$35 (30 June to Sunday 10 August 2025)
LAST MINUTE
$39 (11 August to Sunday 14 September 2025)

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
This is a photography competition. Images must be captured with a camera (digital, film or phone camera) by the entrant.
Images created or edited with generative artificial intelligence may NOT be entered.
The use of AI noise reduction and sharpening technology is allowed, as long as the integrity of the original photographic image is maintained. Check the terms and conditions for more information.
DIGITAL MANIPULATION
Each category has its own specific post-production restrictions. For example, there are fewer restrictions for the Art & Conceptual category than there are for the Documentary & Street category. Please check the terms and conditions before you enter.
WHEN CAN I ENTER?
Entries open 21 April 2025 and close 14 September 2025.
WHAT ABOUT COPYRIGHT?
Your copyright belongs to you. We do ask for a limited-use authorisation to publish your work for the sole purposes of promoting The Capture Awards and announcing the results of The Capture Awards.
IMAGE PREPARATION
• Images must be in JPEG (.jpg) format.
• Images should be sRGB and and at least 2,500 pixels on the longest edge.
• Image file size should be no larger than 5MB.
• Do not include watermarks, logos, branding or borders.
PRIZES
Winners and Runners-Up will share in more than $25,000 in prizes (including $10,000 cash). Prize details here.
RESULTS AND RECOGNITION
Winners, Runners-Up and the top Finalists in each category will be published in a special Summer Edition of Capture magazine in December 2025. Winners and runners-up will also be announced at www.capturemag.com.au
Entrants who receive a Commended Award or better will be notified of their result via email, and will receive a certificate attachment (see below), on the day results are announced.
HOW MANY TIMES CAN I ENTER?
You can enter as many times as you like, in as many categories as you like.
JUDGES
Judges for The Capture Awards will be announced in July 2025.
