Christopher Allery, Where Light Waits (LANDSCAPE & ENVIRONMENT 2026)

Captured in the onsen town of Ginzan, Japan, January 2025, this image holds the landscape in an almost miniature world, suspended somewhere between the real and imagined. Beneath deep winter darkness, the warm glow of the town's gas lamps illuminates falling snow, transforming an ordinary street into something quietly cinematic. Light becomes both subject and guide: revealing the weight of snow, the surrounding forest and small traces of human presence before they disappear again into shadow.
