Michael Currie, Where does the story stop, why aren’t we safe? (DOCUMENTARY & STREET 2024)
24 March saw the police form a line between Anti-trans activists and a counter demonstration at state parliament. Protester challenged the police and shouted down the anti-trans voices. Police from the public order response unit charged at protesters they had said “crossed a line” smashing into Tony who was clearly press and working, they then sprayed people coming to help Tony with OC spray. I captured the images of Tony being hit and falling from behind and on top of a wall, as I jumped onto and then over it. Landing on the ground I made the choice, went to help instead of shooting. Telling police to get out of the way as they left Tony lying on the ground. Police need to use force responsibility and need to be held to account; we deserve to be safe.
