Marion Wheeler, Threads of Heritage: Lhoba Woman (PEOPLE & PORTRAIT 2025)
A Lhoba woman wears the traditional headdress for the Yartung Festival at Kimaling in Upper Mustang. Precious Tibetan turquoise dominates with the earrings having six small read ornate stones threaded together in a drop. The whole village attends the festival. A sit down lunch is the beginning and I was lucky to one of the first foreigners ever invited to watch. It was a great honor and our hosts were the most generous people you could met.
