Emese Gyalog, The Lost Playground (PEOPLE & PORTRAIT 2025)

Two children drift in quiet boredom, their expressions heavy with disconnection. No game of tag, no dusty knees from climbing trees...just an empty stillness where laughter should be. In a world where glowing screens have replaced open skies, they’ve forgotten the joy of chasing each other through grass, of scraped elbows earned from adventures. Once, the streets and backyards were safe havens for childhood freedom. Today, their playgrounds are digital, their friendships filtered through pixels, and the magic of outside feels like a forgotten chapter in a story they no longer read.
