Jude Morrell, The Illusion of Linear Time (ART & CONCEPTUAL 2026)

This photo of my friend Matt, a Dubbo engineer, highlights his abiding interests in a broad range of ideas including time, mathematics and the mystical. That he is reading ‘The Boy’s Book of Secret Agents’ also shows a curious and light-hearted approach to most things and his growing beard gives him the definite look of a Renaissance Man. We are taught to experience existence one ticking second at a time, watching the present instantly evaporate into history. This triptych serves as a visual challenge against that linear constraint, and explores the concept of time as well as the concept of probable selves – the idea that every choice we face creates a new branch of reality, and that all these variations remain intimately connected. The halo of Rubic’s Cubes variations represents the infinite mathematical paths of our choices.
