MARIA LLOYD, THE GATHERING (LANDSCAPE & ENVIRONMENT 2026)

A fascinating ecological study captured on my rural property in Central Queensland. In the wake of heavy rain, a massive influx of floodwater has completely submerged the tree lines, creating a temporary haven for regional wildlife. The image documents a flock of Australian pelicans gathering along a newly formed shallow flat, termed the gathering - highlighting the resilience and sudden behavioural shifts of native birdlife navigating a rapidly transforming environment.
