Afton Fife, The Farmer (PEOPLE & PORTRAIT 2025)

During 2024 I documented the sale of our family farm located at Harefield NSW. The sale was prompted by my Dad’s diagnosis with terminal brain cancer (Glioblastoma). This photo captures my father, the farmer, as he, myself and my sister prepare to sell one of our last loads of wool. We had just finished manually moving over 80 bales of wool when we stopped for a breather. I asked Dad to lean on the wool bales so I could take a quick photo. He was laughing at my sister as the shutter closed.
