Ian Rumsby, The Enchanted Forest (LANDSCAPE & ENVIRONMENT 2026)

The 4 hour ascent of Yakushima's Arakawa Trail is perilous. All the more so in torrential rain. But what sits atop it is a silent, mystical place and one that makes the 48 hour journey from Sydney, armed with little more than a box camera and tripod, worthwhile. The forest was so dense that the light within the canopy became the composition, as much as the trees themselves. I can stare into this image for hours. It's Nature at its most raw - aged, timeless and overwhelming.
