After weeks of hiking in Peru, my husband’s boots were looking worse for wear and were covered in dirt and dust. We usually decline the advances of shoe shiners but decided to try one in Cusco. He worked his magic, and in minutes the leather looked like new again. It was such a simple moment, but it reminded us how much skill and pride goes into true craftsmanship, and how well made gear stands the test of time.
