Sarah Barker, Stavnäs (PEOPLE & PORTRAIT 2025)

This self-portrait began as a simple test of my new camera’s self-timer, made while at Stavnäs in the Stockholm archipelago. What was meant to be a quiet moment of introspection was unexpectedly disrupted by a photo-bomber - shifting the image from solitude to shared presence. That welcome intrusion revealed something more human: the tension between control and spontaneity, and the layered dynamics of connection, visibility, and chance within portraiture.
