Colin Woodgate, Smokey Photographer (DOCUMENTARY & STREET 2026)
I was photographing street scenes at a March for Australia protest in Melbourne and, although I didn't witness what was being burnt - I assumed it was a flag. The main focus in this image is obviously the photographer who appears to be kneeling almost in prayer. I also particularly like the people in the background who are either quietly amused, totally unaffected by what is going on around them, or just wanting to record the event on their phone. I also like the casualness of the guy leaning on the pillar in the background while he watches me recording them all.
