Michelle Hartnett, Saltwater cascades (LANDSCAPE & ENVIRONMENT 2025)

One of my favourite locations to photograph is our local headland at Boulder Beach, Skennars Head, in Northern NSW. There are always exploding waves, sea mist and salt spray flying in all directions as waves collide with the rocky outcrops, creating spectacular opportunities to capture the might and force of the ocean. I created this image using my tele-photo lens to zoom in on the intricate and powerful cascades left in the aftermath of the waves. Freezing a moment as torrents of saltwater spilled over the rock faces, following time-worn paths, racing to rejoin the sea.
