Nadir Kinani, Roxy Rawhide (PEOPLE & PORTRAIT 2024)

This is a portrait of my friend Roxy, he is a trans parent, an artist, drag king and business owner. Inspired by Vermeer's domestic scenes, we worked together to portray who Roxy Rawhide is. But Roxy put it best: "I think they truly capture the rawness of juggling my life as a parent, business owner, drag artist, and on occasion human. The contrast between the confidence, thought out design and glamor of drag and the everyday work, mess, and chaos that is me. Roxy has been a way for me to explore so much of myself, especially my gender expression—a safe space to play, act, and try on elements of myself that I haven’t always felt secure enough to explore in the past and is a part of me I’m so thankful to have. These behind-the-scenes glimpses reveal the chaos behind the show—the mess and moments that come with having a tiny human."
