Terry Hewitt, Rickshaw Puller at Rest (PEOPLE & PORTRAIT 2025)

A rickshaw puller rests between jobs outside New Market, Kolkata, India. Men travel to Kolkata to work as rickshaw pullers, often from poorer areas of India such as Bihar, and spend many months away from their families. They are finding it increasingly hard to make a living, with many passengers preferring to use auto-rickshaws, with rising public awareness of the ignominy of one man pulling another through the streets.
