Connie Chan, Quiet Queen (ART & CONCEPTUAL 2026)
I photograph flowers arranged by hand into rectangular flatlays that are mirrors for the viewer’s inner self. Quiet Queen is the latest piece in my series, Another Me Emerges, a collection of floral flatlays depicting the different sides of who I’ve grown into after motherhood changed everything. Blue hydrangeas hold court, drawing in close delphiniums, burgundy scabiosa, white veronica and wax flowers. I made this arrangement from a place of steady certainty earned through experience. I’ve become more sure of myself, as a mother and artist, and this piece is a reflection of my stronger sense of agency in midlife.
