Aldrin Rada, Quiet Light (PEOPLE & PORTRAIT 2026)

This image was made at the entrance of a sea cave during the late afternoon, when the sunlight briefly reached the sandstone before disappearing into shadow. I was drawn to the contrast between the warm light on the subject and the darkness behind her. Rather than directing an expressive pose, I allowed the moment to settle naturally. The composition is intentionally simple, using light, texture and negative space to hold the viewer's attention. The cave provides context without competing for attention, allowing the quality of the light to become the defining element of the photograph. Quiet Light reflects my approach to portraiture: using natural light and uncomplicated composition to reveal quiet moments that don't need embellishment.
