Guy Templeton, Orange Lichen, Remarkable Rocks (LANDSCAPE & ENVIRONMENT 2025)

On Kangaroo Island’s coast, the Remarkable Rocks rise from a granite dome shaped by millions of years of weathering. Their sculpted forms are marked by vivid orange lichen, a sharp contrast to the surrounding stone. In the foreground, a curved rock leads the eye toward other formations under a heavy sky. Captured at the end of day, the scene shows the balance of rugged geology and the life that clings to it. This exposed headland reveals how wind, salt, and time shape both the land and its fragile surface.
