Cate Reilly, No Hay Entrada, Saquisilí, Ecuador, January 2026 (DOCUMENTARY & STREET 2026)
Two street dogs hanging out near the newly redeveloped Plaza 18 de Octbure in the remote, High Andes village of Saquisilí. Every Thursday, Saquisilí holds a market – the Feria Indígena de Saqusilí – where locals, the Kichwa, come to trade and socialise as they have for more than 500 years. On market day, the “callejizados” gravitate the to the various plazas from which the markets mainly operate, hoping to cadge scraps from the people eating at the food stalls.
