Nilmini De Silva, Molten City (LANDSCAPE & ENVIRONMENT 2026)
Photographed from high above Osaka just after sunset, Molten City captures the moment the city lights transformed the dense urban landscape into something seemingly ablaze. Looking down during rush hour, I was struck by the paradox before me: layers of buildings, roads and lights competing for space, yet remarkably little traffic on the streets below. Osaka appeared overwhelmingly complex, yet beneath that visual intensity was an extraordinary sense of order — a city whose apparent chaos functions with remarkable structure and precision.
