Erin McCoy, Making Meaning (PEOPLE & PORTRAIT 2025)

I have always been enthralled by how my beautiful son walks in the world. With cerebral palsy and sensory processing disorder he experiences the world differently to most. I wanted show others through a a visual capture how hard his mind and body work to do the things we take for granted. Here a simple game with a walkie talkie a complex task. I chose to fill the frame to limit distractions and keep the viewer's focus, just as his needs to be to process information, solely on what is important.
