Savannah Drew, Looking Back, Looking Through (PEOPLE & PORTRAIT 2026)

Looking Back, Looking Through captures the dual existence of someone standing at a threshold where past and present collide. It speaks to the weight of memory - the trauma of domestic violence and the instability of homelessness - that she carries with her, constantly surveying the path she has traveled. Yet, the window itself, devoid of glass, suggests that while the barrier of protection may have once been shattered or nonexistent, she is now forced to confront the world directly, without a lens to soften the view.
