stephen Reynolds, Jack Frost (LANDSCAPE & ENVIRONMENT 2025)

Hoar frost crystals arrive unseen from the humid air of the calm, clear night, their repeating pattern defining the exposed edges of the fagus leaf. Glinting in the sunlight they remain before returning whence they came, succumbing and vapourising under the early morning rays of the rising sun to reveal the reds, greens, and golds of autumn in the turned, fallen Fagus leaf.
