Karen Waller, Iridescence (ART & CONCEPTUAL 2026)
In early 2025, a harmful algal bloom in South Australia caused widespread mortality across marine species. On Yorke Peninsula, abalone and other shellfish were particularly vulnerable, and these small shells were collected near Corny Point, a location recorded as being impacted by this environmental disaster. Made as a single in-camera exposure, this image seeks to reanimate these fragile remnants, drawing attention to their shimmering iridescence and the beauty that remains within loss.
