Jack Giam, In the Pasar Burung (DOCUMENTARY & STREET 2026)
In Indonesia, almost one in every five households owns a songbird. Song birds include birds from a massive variety of species, both native and foreign species. Locals are paid by distributors to catch birds by putting a glue-like substance on branches to which the birds will stick. The birds are taken to bird markets (pasar burung) where they are sold as pets.
