Carole Mills Noronha, Hippo Warrior (PEOPLE & PORTRAIT 2024)
He's the chief of his tribe on the shores of Lake Turkana, Northern Kenya. Legend has it he fought and killed a hippopotamus with his bare hands. He wears part of a bone from that hippo as an earring and reminder of that event. He was a gentle, kind and welcoming man. I photographed him in the doorway of a simple home in the village.
