Calum Saunders, Here we Joh again. (DOCUMENTARY & STREET 2026)
Protestors rallied at on the 18th of April, 2026 at Emma Miller Place, Brisbane QLD in retailiation to the recent hate speech laws passed through government inlcuding phrases such as "From the River to the Sea" and "Globalise the Intifada". The protest resulted in the arrest in 20 people by the Queensland government. My photo depticts Steve, the 70 year-old retired psychologist and South African anti-Zionist Jewish man as he is escorted off the protest and into a wagon only to be delivered to the Roma Street Police Station only down the street. Steve grew up in apartheid South Africa and has been advocating for Palestinian liberation for decades. The actions of the police on the day mirrored those of Brisbanes dark past in the 1960's to 80's during the Joh Bjelke-Petersen era. An era many fear is returning in plain sight.
