John Toulantas, Fluid Dreams and the Essence of Surfing (LANDSCAPE & ENVIRONMENT)
One of my favourite photography techniques is motion blur and freeze motion. This was my first time using this technique at the beach capturing afternoon surfers at Peregian Beach on the Sunshine Coast. In this photograph, I aimed to distill the surfing experience—the rush of waves, the agility of surfers, and the eternal allure of the sea. It's a reminder that amidst our fast-paced world, moments of serene artistry await. The result is an image that blurs the line between reality and imagination. The waves, frozen in time, appear as if they've been rendered with charcoal strokes, creating a unique and mesmerizing effect. It leaves the viewer in a state of contemplation, wondering if they are gazing at a photograph or a meticulously crafted drawing. Sony Alpha A7iv / Tamron 35-150 @ 100mm / ISO 100 / F20 / 1/4secs.
