Lodi Pertovt, Elena (PEOPLE & PORTRAIT 2026)

Elena, a Cholita Escaladora, stands high in the Bolivian Andes wearing the traditional pollera dress—once imposed as a symbol of Indigenous oppression and now reclaimed by the Cholita Escaladoras as an emblem of strength while scaling mountains exceeding 6,000 metres above sea level.
