David Pyefinch, Deep Down (ART & CONCEPTUAL 2024)
This photographic series is a deeply personal exploration of the degradation and neglect plaguing our marine ecosystems. Found beach rubbish became a key material, that I transformed into abstracted forms within the photographs. The water's depiction is equally metaphorical, mirroring the uncertain times we face. Humans are undeniably drawn to the vibrant colours and convenience of product packaging, yet we continue to purchase these very items that contribute to the destruction of the oceans that sustain us. It's a cycle of gradual, relentless change. Deep down there’s a feeling within all of us that something isn’t right.
