Julie Kenny, Commemoration (LANDSCAPE & ENVIRONMENT)

This image of a country church and graveyard is confronting mortality. I find this image to be both beautiful and saddening. The sense of loss can be overwhelming in what can be a harsh and unforgiving environment - the outback. I also see the warmth of the tones and the beautiful trees surrounding those who are at rest. The more I look at this image the more I notice - like the crosses in the paving and the two recent graves still covered with flowers. This is a reminder of the fragility of life.
