Ben Lang, Cloud Fall (LANDSCAPE & ENVIRONMENT 2026)

This was one of those pinch yourself moments when you can hardly believe what’s unfolding in front of you. We’d jumped in the boat just before first light and started motoring across the bay. As the darkness lifted, a thick bank of fog began spilling over the cliffs, tumbling down the sheer rock faces like a slow-motion waterfall. The rising sun washed everything in soft gold, and through the drifting mist, the lighthouse barely emerged. It felt almost impossible that we were there to witness it. The ocean was rough, and launching the drone meant knowing I’d have to catch it again from a rocking boat. One wrong move on its return and it could end up in the water. But with this scene unfolding around us, I knew I had to get it in the air. I stopped the boat, unfolded the drone and spent the next thirty minutes in absolute awe, watching the fog pour over the edge of the land and out towards the sea.
