Brian Cassey, Bubblegum & Voices (PEOPLE & PORTRAIT 2024)
On the day that pre-polling opened in Australia's "Indigenous Voice to Parliament" referendum - a day potentially giving indigenous Australians more say in the machinations of the Federal Government - little Kythie Yunkaporta (right) was more occupied with the bubblegum blown up by Shuntay Marpoodin (left) in the remote Aboriginal community of Aurukun on Cape York Peninsula. The negative result of the referendum will have a significant impact on little Kythie's and Australia’s indigenous communities futures.
