Anita Pallas, Brief light (LANDSCAPE & ENVIRONMENT 2026)
This photograph captures the ski fields of Mount Hotham as fog, wind, and snow briefly part to reveal soft morning light filtering through the trees. Originally heading to the more sheltered Mount Buffalo, changing weather and park closures led to an unplanned journey into extreme conditions. With temperatures at zero degrees and winds nearing 80 km/h, the light appeared only in fleeting moments, illuminating the snow and clouds. This image reflects the unpredictability of nature and the quiet reward of waiting for a moment that almost never came.
