Guy Templeton, Atmosphere of Industry (LANDSCAPE & ENVIRONMENT 2025)
At Port Kembla in NSW, a vast industrial landscape exhales into the dawn sky. Plumes of steam drift upward, merging with colour-rich cloud. Viewed from across the breakwater, the full scale of this manufactured terrain comes into view: blast furnace, conveyors, and chimneys receding into the Illawarra escarpment. This is a landscape shaped not by nature alone, but by labour, infrastructure, and time. It reflects how atmosphere and industry coexist — not as opposites, but in layered tension. Part of a series on climate solutions.
