Alan Davies, A very special Christmas (DOCUMENTARY & STREET 2024)

In the Sydney suburb of Coogee, these Ukrainians celebrated their first Christmas in December. In 2023, Ukraine officially broke with the Russian Orthodox tradition of using the ancient Julian calendar to observe the birth of Christ on 7th January. With a middle finger to Russia, they symbolically aligned with the West and adopted 25th December as their new Christmas. This memorable dinner was very noisy, with eleven adults and five children crammed around a table for six. As is the way in Ukraine, all guests spoke simultaneously, with a surfeit of food and drink!
