Fiona Bowring, A Fawzian Bargain (PEOPLE & PORTRAIT 2025)

I found Fawzi in his doorway, reading, on a stroll in Arles. Fawzi (little English) and I (less French) struck a bargain for simultaneous portraits and counted, like duellers. ‘Un, deux, trois!’ With nouns, verbs, gestures and laughter, we shared life stories. I asked for one more.
