The Capture Awards celebrate and showcase outstanding work by Australian and New Zealand photographers across six genres: Advertising & Fashion | Wedding & Event | Documentary & Street | Portrait & People | Landscape & Environment | Art & Conceptual.

WHO CAN ENTER?
The Capture Awards is open to all photographers from Australia and New Zealand (citizens and residents). 
WHAT CAN I ENTER?
• Check the category descriptions and guidelines before you enter. Different rules, particularly in relation to post production, may apply to different categories. 
• Your image must have been captured after 1 January 2022.
• All elements in the entry must have been captured by you and must be 100% photographic in origin, including textures, backgrounds, skies, borders, etc. The use of stock imagery, stock video, or clip art is forbidden. Any post production must be your own work (except for Advertising and Fashion category in which it is industry practice to use a digital operator / retoucher). You must be the copyright holder of the entered work, or in case of wedding or family portraits, you should have permission from the client ('domestic' photography usually shares or forgoes copyright with client). 
ENTRY PRICES AND DEADLINES
$39 (26 August to 11.59PM AEST Tuesday 17 September 2024)

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
This is a photography competition and, as such, images must be captured with a camera (digital, film or phone camera) by the entrant. Images created by artificial intelligence using image-creation programs (for example, MidJourney, DALL-E, Stable Diffusion, etc) may NOT be entered. Images edited using Generative AI in programs such as Photoshop, Topaz Photo AI, etc, where pixels are added that did not exist in the original photo, may NOT be entered. Check the terms and conditions for more information. 
DIGITAL MANIPULATION
Each category has it's own specific post-production restrictions. For example, there are understandably fewer restrictions for the Advertising & Fashion than there are for the Documentary & Street category. Please check the relevant Category descriptions before you enter.
WHEN CAN I ENTER?
Entries will reopen in June 2025
WHAT ABOUT COPYRIGHT?
Your copyright belongs to you. We do ask for a limited-use authorisation to publish your work for the sole purposes of promoting The Capture Awards and announcing the results of The Capture Awards.
IMAGE PREPARATION
• Images must be in JPEG (.jpg) format.
• Images should be sRGB and and at least 2,500 pixels on the longest edge.
• Image file size should be no larger than 5MB.
• Do not include watermarks, logos or any other branding.
PRIZES
Winners and Runners-up will share in $10,000 cash and prizes from our sponsors. For more information about the prizes click here.
RESULTS AND RECOGNITION
Winners, runners-up and top finalists in each category will be published in a special Summer Edition of Capture magazine in December 2024. Winners and runners-up will also be announced at capturemag.com.au
An email with an attached certificate noting their placing in the competition will be sent in December.

HOW MANY TIMES CAN I ENTER?
You can enter as many times as you like, in as many categories as you like.
JUDGES
Judges for The Capture Awards will be based outside Australia and New Zealand and will be announced in July 2024.
